I agree, and that is the reason I don't have a diesel as a daily
driver. All of my tractors are quieter than a Cummins diesel the
Navistar/Ihc is next, then the Duramax is the quietest of the light
trucks. I have 2 F350 1995 models that I need to get back into
service. The electronic throttle is a problem if a mouse ever gets
into the truck. The other one needs a new torque convertor. The
transmissions could not handle the torque of the engine. I have a
friend with a 90's Dodge diesel. He drives up and then leaves it
running forever... Wife & I have decided that next time we are going
to ask him if the battery is good and then tell him to shut the Da%%^
thing off! I see many here in OKC with a tailpipe so large that it
almost drags the ground, and sounds like an outdoor speaker. When it
takes off, it leaves a smokescreen like a WWII fighter plane!!
