[AT] Vote

Grant, I totally agree with what you have posted.  I too also encourage everyone to vote their conscience and do so with considerable deliverance.  I consider this election to be one of the more consequential in my lifetime.  However, there is one current situation that really concerns me and don't see it getting corrected in the near future, if ever.  And that is biased news reporting. From my perspective I JUST FLAT DON'T TRUST THAT I AM GETTING UNBIASED NEWS FROM ANY SOURCE. I try to follow in excess of 20 different news sources and it is absolutely very troubling how the same news is reported in so many different biased ways.  But even more troubling to me is how much of the bias is subliminal and not readily noticed unless one makes an effort to have your antennas really tuned for it.  There is an undercurrent of subliminal bias such that our minds are being polluted without our knowledge or recognition. That is really scary to me. I wish I had an answer for this problem but it is so pronounced that each news organization requires two different reports of each news event and then let the listener decide which version they want to believe.  It really a sad state of affairs that we have gotten ourselves into this position but IMHO it is a cancer growing on our Democracy, if not corrected, will eventually send us down the same failure path as the Roman empire. I find it very disturbing that the wiki leaks are now accomplishing what the press used to uncover through investigative reporting. IMHO the current press ought to be completely embarrassed that they didn't uncover this info using legitimate methods and means. The solution I see is further growth of the independent non conventional press.  We need a strong independent unbiased press as a check and balance on our currently corrupt government.  Right now we have way too many cheerleaders rather than serious unbiased reporting.  When the press can be bought we will rapidly deteriorate into a banana Republic. Hopefully, there is a solution to this problem currently  hidden that will rise to the surface very soon.

While I do not expect everyone on this list to vote the way I would, I
am thankful for all of our opportunity today to vote freely in most
places. As on every voting day since I turned 18 years old I voted and I
took my wife and mother to vote this morning on this beautiful, bright
and warm California day. I am thankful to our forefathers for their
willingness to create a new country that embodied in its fabric voting
and representative government. We oft-times fall short of perfection,
but should always strive for better - just like the lessons and sermon
in Church Sunday said.
I thank our forebears for religious toelerance and freedom too and
am thankful that whether Christian, Jewish, Muslim, American Indian,
Hindu, atheist or whatever that we all are free to worship as we choose
as long as it does not harm others, just like our votes!
