Thanks Steve,  that's what I was thinking.  I don't know
how plentiful salvage yards are where Ralph lives but
around here I think I could come up with something in
half a day.

Should be an easy swap. Just need an axle with the leaf spring mounts
the same width. Could even go up in weight rating. They built that truck
with a LOT of different front axle ratings, many of the others have
parts available.
