Steve,
I have one in an enclosed bathroom ceiling fixture that is pretty well 
ventilated.  One is in a large globe in an entryway.  The one in the 
globe is one that has failed.  The rest are open bulbs.  The one that 
failed Saturday is actually an open bulb outside.
