Mike,

I fully understand. But please understand my reason for not using them very
often. I have a huge fear that one of my Fathers wrenches will get lost so
they are really there for show not for use. I want to pass on this set to my
son complete as I received them. So the only time they get used is when I
run into a situation where nothing else will work. They just happen to be
thinner than any other open end or box wrench I own so when I get into a
tight spot I know these wrenches will solve the problem. And usually I am
very religious about putting them away after uses. For some reason the 5/8
wrench ended up behind the bench and I just flat couldn't find it. I don't
even remember what I was working on but I was looking for that wrench before
the job was even completed. I was very unhappy with myself for over a year
even after going to several swap meets trying to find a like replacement.
When I finally found that wrench there was this huge burden off of my
shoulders. Self-imposed I know but as we get older we have quirks. That is
one of mine. If my dad could use that wrench set on the farm and not lose
one I better damn well not lose one either. I don't know how to explain
that other than my father was killed in a farm accident in 1962 and I guess
this is one way I respect his memory. Sometimes we never forget the way we
were raised.

Dean, forgive me for being so forward, but I would use those wrenches every
chance I had; your Father didn't buy them to sit on the shelf and neither
should you. I was given my grandfathers chainsaw when he passed away, not
exactly the same but close. I use the heck out of that saw and care for it
like a baby. I was old enough to remember when a link snapped on the chain
and it wrapped around his bare arm, tore it it up pretty good. I feel like
I'm carrying a part of him with me when I'm using using it to cut the wood,
that keeps his great grand daughters warm in the winter.

very highly. I don't use them unless I have a need that absolutely requires
them. As I recall they were made by Thorson and they are thinner than the
tradition combination wrench like a Craftsman. Well, I used them for a
specific application and somehow the 5/8"Wrench disappeared. I was beside
myself for over a year. I looked and looked, I could not find that stinking
wrench. My wife and I became real swap meet hounds trying to find an exact
replacement. Never succeeded. Then one day I decided to do a thorough
cleaning in the shop. Pulled back the work bench and there it was on the
foundation ledge 6" above the shop floor. I no longer was in trouble with
my father! And that was really good.
