   Charlie , I can  afirm that to the extent that what they tell you is 
on a need to know basis as well as some other members of ATIS can , Navy 
or others   . I had a high enough security clearance that I am allowed 
into the reactor compartment on nuclear subs to work  , or go anywhere 
on board if following a part of that system . But tell me how deep they 
will go , no thats on a  "need to know " basis .  Enterprise ,being a 
nuke , could no doubt outrun a conventional steam plant .
  My last ship had an ecounter with a Russian destroyer once and he 
thought he had the upper hand untill our escort poped up his periscope 
,opened the torpedo doors and asked them to kindly back off .  You would 
be amazed how fast a destroyer can go if they really want to .
