[AT] drill bits

If the drill bit is sharped without using coolant (oil or water) to
keep the grinding wheel from heating up the drill bit, the heat build or
burning will soften the high speed steel in drill bit and it will dull much
faster.

Gary
I bought a very good set of drill bits in a screw top holder at the
farms show. It was the American Made Bit Sales booth. They have a
lifetime sharpening and replacement guarantee. However, I had mine
sharpened lately, and the sharpened ones seem to be a lot shorter and they
dull much quicker. My advice would be to just break the bit if you want it
sharpened by them and give them the broken piece that goes in
the drill. I got the mechanics length set that has 3 flats on the bits
for a 3/8 drill. The set goes from 1/16 to 1/2 by 1/64 i think the set is
made by Triumph.

nitride coated bits but have gone back to using high speed steel bits. Even
the higher quality coated bits don't seem to work as good as the high speed
steel bits.

doctor but it doesn't do a good job on the really small sizes.
