[AT] Interesting AC-B

It very well could be. And I wasn’t trying to imply if it would or wouldn’t.

My only issue was how it was advertised (quote: Frame Off restoration, runs perfect, some cracking on 3 tires but hold air no problem, beautiful tractor, a must have for the serious collector or user. Best one I have seen anyplace.)

If this were an add in the local farm paper (no pictures) vs. eBay (with pictures) I’d be driving there with a mental image of this tractor. “Best one I have seen anyplace” would give me visions of what this list would refer to as a “trailer queen”.

So my “nit picking” (and I know I was) was just the fact I thought there was some exaggeration. I like to be pleasantly surprised when I look at something and not left with a ho hum feeling. But it wasn’t like it had grease painted over and the sheet metal looked very very good for a tractor of that age. I might have to go back and mark it to see if it sells (or what it gets for bids anyway).

Brad, I said it was worth 1000 bucks because it will likely part out for
that much.
If it turns out to be a good runner that is a bonus.

I hate to nit pick but I’m curious on what “frame off restoration” refers
to. Did he roll it off the trailer frame before he painted it?

If I were going to tear one down to what I consider “frame off” and
restore it, it would get all new belts and hoses, wires, plugs and things
of
that nature. I’d probably paint it before installing those items. ;-)

But again, that would be for one I intended to keep. If I were buying it
to turn a buck on I’d probably cut a few corners. While it might be worth
the $1K (not to me) I’d hope he could show some receipts for parts if he’s
got the reserve set too high.

Luckily mine are as Farmer would say……still in their work clothes. :-)
But hopefully one day they might look as pretty as this B.

I missed the reserve part. I was actually looking for a stump grinder but
can never leave ebay without searching Allis Chalmers.

Personally, I would not want a tractor with a painted carb, magneto,
starter...heck everything but the seat cushion but at 999 I'd buy this
one
if it proved out mechanically for that. I could change the decals, tow it
to SC and still be happy if I got it at that price.

To bad he didn't go to the trouble to put the correct decals on the
hood.
They are supposed to be blue with the long A and S

999.00 on ebay right now at:

I don't know, it looks like they just painted everything orange and
slapped
stickers on it but if i was nearby, it would definitely be worth a
drive
to
look at just to see. It does appear straight and original. Says it's
been
rebuilt top to bottom. Has a belt pulley but no hydraulic system.
