That was what I carried when I managed the Starlite, our now long gone local
drive in theatre. One of our rent a cops (off duty sheriff's deputies)
showed me how to hold the flashlight when approaching "problem" vehicles
during the show. A hefty club indeed. Thankfully I never had to use it as
anything but a flashlight. Still have that Mag-Lite more than 30 years
later.

The big D cell Mag-lights were standard issue back in the day, took 6 D 
cells. They were bright for their time, and also served a dual role as a 
good  head cracker if need be.
