[AT] Rewinch batteries

Interstate might be ok for some folks and I admit I haven't used one
in many years but when I used to be on the road about 40,000 miles a
year the guy that serviced my truck carried Interstate batteries and I
NEVER had acceptable service from them.   Seemed like I was constantly
buying a new battery and at the time I was trading trucks about every 3
years.  I should have never had to buy one at all.

The hands down very best single battery I ever owned was an Autozone 
Duralast Gold
I used that battery in a truck for a couple of years, took it out and ran it 
in a tractor for
a couple more years.  That tractor didn't have a good alternator on it so I 
would just
run on battery until it got low enough the tractor wouldn't start and then 
charge it up.
Then I took it out of the tractor and it sat around in the yard near my fuel 
drum where
I used it to run a transfer pump.  It would sit for weeks or months in all 
kinds of weather
in all states of charge and it just kept on taking a charge and doing fine 
until last year
when it started not holding a full charge.  I tried to rehab it with that 
cycle on my
battery charger but it didn't work so I finally used it as a core to buy a 
new battery for
one of my tractors.  I can't even remember how long I had that thing but at 
least 10 years.
I think it was just a fluke that it was that good and lasted that long. 
I'll probably never
be that lucky again.

I always thought Interstate made good batteries, although I've never
owned one. Shows what I know. Are Diehards still good?
