[AT] Semi-off topic Zero Turn mowers

Looked at a few several years back. One thing in talking to folks was heat
off the engine, some use a large heat shield, better look into that. If
you're going to fly across the yard, check out the suspension and the seat,
your back can only take so much. When I looked at Dixie Choppers they were
impressive but not enough dealer network around for me. Ferris makes some of
the toughest looking ZTR mowers around. Most commercial mowers around these
parts are running the big Deeres---probably due to dealer support, gotta
give Deere credit for that. I guess I should clarify that all the mowers I
looked at would probably start around 6K and go as much as 12 or more---not
that I can afford the top of the line.

I still like old school mowers, just not the kind that creep along. I've got
a 2072 Cadet with a 60" cut and am rebuilding a 982 Cadet with 60" . A big,
fast, durable older mower is the 4xx series Deere. Those things still
command high prices on Craigslist.

I'd like to hear peoples opinions of different
brands of ZTR mowers. I'm not interested in
particular brands or what is cool or popular.
I'm looking for the most bang for the money
in terms price, reliability and serviceability.
Cheaper is better but price isn't everything.
I don't want a small machine and I don't want a
huge one. I do place some importance on speed.

Thanks

Charlie
