I fortunately had great drying weather and everything cured very nicely. None of my bales got above 100 either.  I just use a compost thermometer.   My thermocoupler is on the fritz. (-:

Like you, I stay very aware of the risk.  All gasoline equipment gets the gas turned off at the tank, run dry, them allowed to completely cool before I push it in.  The diesels are in another building.

No battery charging either.
