Yes Charlie that is some what my problem.When i first insert the key nothing 
try a few more times an it will go. But like yours it will be going along 
and stop. take out key and try few more times and movement. have moved 
steering and turned all ways nothing. I tried to day washed out key slot 
with elect contact cleaner will see what happens. I am like you have two 
this one i got used needed batteries other i got new in 93 it had a elect 
short found that and repaired now i need a fuse 3am 24v have not found one 
yet. Odd ball only 3/16 across 3/4 long round. Have all kinds auto fuses 
none small enough.
I guess radio shack visit is in order. May need to send wife i can,t walk 
that far.
