Hi Richard. I have two Pride Legend handicap scooters. I think that is
what you are asking about. One of mine was used very lightly by an older
lady after she had a knee replacement. It is the deluxe model with lights,
horn, turn signals, etc, just like a little car. Other Than giving it new
batteries when I bought it, it has had no problems. The other is much
older and has been used a lot. It was my outback scooter so to speak for
going to the tractors, etc. That has been a pain at times. The wire
harness runs from the handle bar, down the steering column, and then along
the bottom to the motor area at the back. there are about 15 or more very
small wires in that harness which is only about 1/2 inch diameter. Every
time the handle bar is turns back or forth, that harness is flexed at the
gap between the lower end of the column and the vehicle frame. Sooner or
later wires inside that harness become fatigued at the flex point and start
to break. Mind had a habit of just stopping unexpectedly. Turn the
steering back and forth and it would make contact and go again for a bit.
I eventually dug into it and isolated the problem wire, which I fixed by
carefully soldering in a short jumper piece of tiny wire. Sort of like
micro surgery. Put things back together and the scooter ran great for a
few months. Then, low and behold, the stalling started again. I am
guessing it is another wire in the same harness, but have not dug into it
to see. If a new wire harness is available from Pride, I am guessing the
cost would be near what I paid for the whole scooter in the first place.

This whole blurb may be totally unrelated to the problem you have. I can
tell you though that the flex point in that cable is a weak feature and a
likely cause of problems.

Put a search in your local Craigs list and check it daily. A lot of those
do come for sale. You just need to wait it out until a good one at the
right $$$$ shows up, then jump on it quickly. That is where both of mine
came from.
