Charlie,it has to be an endless belt if you are running a crossed belt.
Otherwise the splice or lacing will catch and wear as it crosses. If you
can set up the tractor and pulley so it will run the right direction
without crossing the belt, then you might be ok.
We run the saw that way, laced belt with no twist in it and it works
fine. But for a hammer mill I think endless belting is the only way to go.
