[AT] fuel system question

Ron,
My experience gives equal credence to both gravity feed of fuel and space limitations.
Was a lift truck mechanic for many years, the available space below the seat is minimal to say the least. You would have had a rather tall hood on a tractor also.
Were updrafts the best carb? Not so much in my opinion but the best that we had to work with under the circumstances.
My views only, no input was sought from any 'legitimate' source. (grins)
David

Subject: [AT] fuel system question
What is the reason most tractors and industrial engines use updraft
carburetors? Some early inline automobile engines used updraft but they
switched to downdraft eventually. Most aircraft engines use updraft.
Any ideas? Maybe gravity fuel systems?
