[AT] Small Backhoes?

I need to parrot what Charlie said, hire a guy with a full size excavator, it will cost him a whole lot less, and the job will be done in a day. What is he planning on doing with the dirt he exavates?  We used to live on 10 acres and had a problem with drainage. Part of our field just didn't drain right, even thought the overall grade was in my favor. I toyed around with my tractor and back blade for about a week, making somewhat of a mess in the process, and it still didn't drain right. I saw a guy working with a excavator in  a nearby housing complex, I stopped and asked him if he did dozer work as well; he did, and I had him come by. Half a morning and $400 later it was done and perfectly graded.

A neighbors son  I know is looking for a backhoe. He has a house on about 1/3 an acre on a hill. Needs lots of excavation. He was thinking about buying one instead of renting it. 



I mentioned that he might be better off with a Terramite or and Allmand since he has such a small area. Would be tough to move around on that small parcel with a full size backhoe . He started looking around and saw that Kubota's were less expensive. 



I've used a Terramite and an Allmand and I was impressed. Never used a kubota. 



Any preferences out there?
