As A long time list member from the Forsythe days I came out of
lurking some years back and asked for recommendations from the list on
what would be a good wheel tractor for road grading. I have always
been a Cat guy and have very little experience with wheel tractors.

Overwhelmingly IH 350 U was high on the list. As if by magic one came
up for sale on the local computer net. Story was one wheel was locked
up but it ran, $650. It turned out that both back wheels were locked
up but it was just the brakes (which are still in pieces). The big
problem was the famous steering problem which I had to learn about on
YT. I had to weld up a new gear tooth in the steering box.

At this point it has been sitting in the shed for about 5 years and
has become a point of contention with the wife. I have not been able
to make myself go near it. Since I got it I bought an old D8 and have
given it all kinds of TLC and have it in pretty good shape. I guess I
was just not cut out for wheel tractors.

I have been trying to get it running again lately. I finally had some
success today. I finally got spark and it will start but runs rich for
a bit and floods out. Gas pours out the carb. Usually when the float
needle leaks I can get an engine running buy keeping the gas shut off
and turning it on after it starts but no luck on this one.

Where I am at now is the Carb has to come off. This thing is so hard
to work on. It has a loader so that complicates things. I know it is
just a Farmall H under all that stuff, but everything is hard to get
to. My question is it has that tube going to the governor, If I just
unbolt it will the carb just come off?

Frustratedly,
