Years ago my first semi was a 65 GMC pancake cab with a 238 Detroit and
12 spd spicer. When the input gear went out, I found a 10spd RR and
installed it. We never got the shifter right to get into all the gears
for that COE. I later bought a straight shaft shifter and was going to
use a piece of rubber flap to seal the floorboard. Dad bought an IHC
with a 3208 Cat and 10 spd spicer, and we switched over to that, after I
overhauled the spicer trans, it hopped out of high gear.
Later they outlawed tractors with no brakes on the front axle, and we
just parked the GMC.
The IHC was parked a few years ago and I found the 2 L9000 Fords at a
State Auction. Then went to another auction and found the
Freightliner. The freightliner needs some TLC on the front hood, but it
really is a nice old classic road truck.
I have that rollback on a 95 IHC with a DT466 and no transmission... I
have thought of putting the 10spd RR behind the DT466. Time and Money
are tight, so what gets done is done....
