The equator is still where it has been for a while and the earth axis 
still has a 22.5 degree tilt.  The tropic of Cancer and Tropic of 
Capricorn have not moved from their positions at 22.5 degrees north and 
south.

This strange weather can be contributed to the melting of the ice caps 
and the current state of the Arctic oscillation, the difference in air 
pressure between the Arctic and and the area around the Azores.  The 
Arctic is warming faster than the tropics which is affecting the jet stream.
