Take out the battery and charge it while it's out of the tractor.  So say the "powers that be" in Cleveland.  What they are are trying to guard against is the "Yayhoo" who hooks his big high-amp charger up to the battery terminals, and hits the starter position on the ignition switch.

Larry, how ya gonna start that thing in the Spring time ???  I've jump started my Cadet many times and always worry about the electronics getting zapped.

Apparently, there have been instances where the battery died, jumper cables somehow shorted out the electric power steering, and the electronics shorted out.  Yeehaw!
