[AT] Working on old tractors (was Re: Hip/Case SC broken radiator belt

Give me an old tractor to work on any time! When I was younger (a LONG 
time ago) I used to do a lot of work on cars and trucks. But I found, as 
I aged, that twisting around inside and crawling under those machines 
was getting more and more difficult and less and less fun. Old tractors, 
on the other hand, can almost always be worked on standing up or sitting 
on a milk crate. Except for doing connecting rods/bearings, I almost 
never have to lie down to work.

Yesterday, in fact, I was (finally!) replacing the generator in my Case 
430CK, and the only issue was that I kept bumping my head on the loader 
boom while trying to see if the belt was properly placed on the 
crankshaft pulley.

Speaking of that generator, I appreciate all the suggestions I received 
from ATIS members, but my final solution was to order a rebuilt 
generator from CT Farm & Country (formerly Valu-Bilt, formerly Central 
Tractor). It was back ordered for a couple of weeks and wasn't cheap, 
but it arrived yesterday and is a perfect match for the old unit. I 
haven't hooked up the wires or polarized it yet, but I hope to do that 
this afternoon (if the weather holds - we have been getting a lot of 
much needed rain this week).
