Dean, I don't know at what point they changed but mine is a late series 
AR , maybe 1953, and it is factory 12 volt positive ground. Thats right 
out of the operators manual. I know I always had to look it up when 
installing a battery to get the right polarity. Now I have it marked 
inside the battery case lids with felt marker.
Mine also had a water pump and I have heard that earlier AR tractors did 
not have one.
