[Farmall] Super A belt pulley

There usually wasn't leakage through the inside of that spacer. It was
tightened against the inner race of the bearing. Both were turned parts and
the fit was reasonably snug. It the shaft was turning, centrifugal force
would throw the oil away from that junction. I've never seen an oil leak at
that shaft that wasn't caused either by a bad seal or a missing
pulley/spacer. A bit of sealer on the edge of the spacer would probably
stop it completely.

The protective shield on the A etc. pulley shaft is identical to the Cub PTO
shaft shield. I think OEM or somebody has a repro.

Hey John, the only O-ring is the one that seals the unit against the
transmission.

I did notice something in the parts book I found interesting. IH furnished
protective shields for the shafts that were held on by a hose clamp. Dad
remembers them and seems to think they came with the tractors. Gives me
something new to look for on restored tractors! I imagine they are a bit
hard to find as most folks probably did like my family and took them off and
never put them back on--this includes later model tractors as well.
