Mike, dad has 1951 and 52 Farmall Super A's. There is a difference in the 
brake band design on those 2. One of them will stop pretty good going 
backwards downhill. The other one, lets just say you shouldn't even think 
about it!

To keep the thread on the subject, the nature of band brakes is that
they hardly work at all in reverse, while disk brakes work the same
going forward of back. Drum brakes (again, as in the Ford) work mostly
the same going forward or backward).
