Jason I was thinking the same thing. I bought a new chain last fall for my
18" bar and it was a high end chain. I think it cost me a hair over 20
bucks and the guy put it on the saw for me and gave me a file to dress it up
with.

Are you sure it's 63 links? This chain is 62 links for an 18" bar and it's
less than $18 for a new chain.

Anyway the key to manual sharpening is to touch them up regularly. Keep a
good sharp edge and don't wait until it's dull and sawing powder, because
then you'll need to take it in to have it professionally sharpened. This
would be a decent basic set of files to hand sharpen.
