Hi JV.  Yes, exactly right, the saw blade has a series of holes near the
perimeter--perhaps to help in cooling?

Fascinating!

I'm puzzled about being the apparent circular "hole" i.e. you can see thru
the saw blade a short distance in from the periphery.

Does the blade have a series of small holes around it, inside the teeth?
