Power wash? It would be so fortunate - I don't wash tractors unless I am
going to paint one. No, water getting in from washing is definitely not
a likely source of the problem. :-) The air intake for the air cleaner
is on the side of the hood, and I suppose that it is possible that, when
the tractor was outdoors during the Summer, rain coming off the hood
found its way into the air intake. I may have to think about keeping
that area covered when the tractor is left outdoors.

I intend to put it back on as soon as it thaws out and I can pour out
the oil and water. The snow I was dealing with wasn't going anywhere -
it was heavy and wet after sitting for a day in the sun.

I guess that would depend on conditions. I do 95% of my plowing with a
truck and only use the tractor to clean up later (when things have
quieted down, and I don't have snow/sleet/rain dripping down my neck,
etc. (been there, done that). I can back up to the barn and garage doors
and pull the snow away very nicely. And the blade sticks out about 6"
from the rear tires, so I can scrape back the drifts left by the truck's
relatively narrow blade.

Thanks for responding,
