That's what I may end up doing.   The reverse lights wire will provide the 
easiest place to find what I need, but they are at the back of the car and 
the connection that ties to it is from the display which is at the dash.

It's a shame cars don't have a punch-down block (used in phone/network 
wiring).  It appears that everything is done with individual harnesses.

Looks like I will run another line next to the shielded video cable from the 
back of the car to the front.  I'll make sure it's got an in-line fuse 
that's easy to get to.
