[Farmall] Gas tank residue

Depending on what it actually is, you could try something as simple as 
kerosene, or cheap carburetor cleaner. Whatever it turns out to be, just 
putting something in the tank to dissolve the gunk may not work too well. 
Try putting something like a coffee can of gravel or old rusty nuts and 
bolts, etc into the tank. Shake the tank and let whatever you put into it 
start to help the dissolver break up the gunk. You don't need for it to be 
totally liquid in order to start pouring it out. As soon as it getting 
runny, pour it out as best as you can, then add more of whatever you put 
in to dissolve the thinned residue. You may have to do this three or four 
times depending on how well the gunk dissolves.
