My Jim Dandy had the Kohler K301S engine with fuel pump. I found out
after similar experience that the fuel pump was no good. Since the tank
sits above the engine, I just bypassed the pump and had no more problem
after that.
As far as the carburetor, if your engine is the same one, parts are
readily available from any number of on-line suppliers. Here is one
