I don't think it's a noticable amount of slippage.  IIRC the gear ratio is 
just a tiny bit faster.  That is why they say turn the FWA off on the 
highway--tires wear faster because the front axle is trying to pull the 
back.

At least I think. I can't remember where I heard, but either way I don't 
think the front and rear axle ratios match.

Not sure about the articulated full-time 4wd tractors either.
