[AT] Club tractor drives

    George;

    The 2008 Portland show featured Allis Chalmers tractors. The Ohio,
Michigan and Indiana Allis clubs all met in Michigan and drove to the
Tri-State show. It was a trip of about 200 miles and took 3 days to
accompish. About 175 tractors participated. People actually hauled their
tractors from their local areas to join the drive at the beginning and many
more joined the drive as they came through their areas. They overnighted in
Bryant, Indiana and paraded in at Portland the next day. It took more than 2
hours for all of the tractors to enter the grounds. Everyone on the drive
had a great time. The only complaint I heard from any of them was for a
softer seat before they did it again.

    3 local couples made the drive from the beginning and live only 60 miles
from Portland. The men drove the tractors and the wives drove the trucks
with the trailers and campers..

    They did alert the local officials along the route before they started
and had complete cooperation from all of them.

    My memory prevents recall of the exact numbers and the total miles and
maybe someone has the exact figures.

                            Gene
