The most tractors we have on our rides is 15 to 18, so you're right, the planning for these smaller rides is pretty simple.

John,

I agree with the "just do it" approach, especially if you've got a dozen or less tractors involved.  I live in a farmland area and tractors or farm equipment are a common sight on the back roads.

I do think if you've got 150-200 tractors that it is a much larger event and needs more organization and coordination with the communities you will be traveling through.

John.... when I get my Empire tractor setup for tractor tours you can be sure I'll haul it down to CA to go on some of your tours.  They sound like a lot of fun.

I mostly started this thread just to see if I could get some discussion going and find out if many clubs do tractor tours and what their experiences are.  I was surprised to hear that someone has one with up to 200 tractors.

In seeing the response that mentioned people watching the tractors go by reminded me of my first engine/tractor trip to Europe to attend the HMT show in Holland.  This is the biggest show over there and has many hundreds if not close to a thousand tractors in attendance.  Everyone stays until closing time on the last day of the show and then everyone leaves the showgrounds at the same time.  A majority of the tractors displayed are actually driven to the show, so when this large mass of tractors leaves the showgrounds, people will line the roads for miles around to watch the tractors go by.

Friends of mine used to take a tractor to this show each year and it was a two day tractor drive to get to the show.  They would pull a camper trailer behind the tractor and spend the night somewhere along the road each way.

George

George- Just quit worrying about it and do it! You've done your homework, you know what is involved, and it sounds like your first attempt will not be overly ambitious. By the way, you are still welcome to join us on April 25 and 26 for our two day 120 mile Colusa Endurance Run!
