I went a picked up the JD 60- O yesterday I mentioned on the list. The loading was uneventful, and it came with a JD disc, and nice JD two-bottom plow. These implements came with the tractor when new. After it was on the traiiler, the seller mentioned how nice it would look in the parade if it had all the original orchard tin on it. I explained to him that not all orchard tractors came with the full tin and it may have been ordered like it sits. He said "I think Fred still has all the original tin for it in his shed" He had my immediate attention.

Apparently. Fred was the original owner. He is an 80 year old batchelor farmer who still lives with his mother just down the road. The seller indicated that he went to look for the tin several year ago, but there was so much stuff in the shed that he didn't bother. He didn't really need it anyway. He said Fred is still around and he will ask him about it next week and let me know. The sellers wife suggested that they follow me on my way out and stop by Fred's to see if he was around (I tried to contain my excitement). Anyway, the seller said he had too much to do yesterday and didn't want to bother Fred right then, but he will ask him next week as they see each other several times a week at the Conservation Club. If he has all the tin, that would be the find of the century for me. I will be following up with them next week.

Now for the bad. I started looking over the tractor after I got home yesterday and discovered the engine was seized. I had hopes that it would be free as it had a muffler and rain cap on it. However, at some point the rain made it past and the right cylinder was full of water. I sucked all the water out yesterday and filled the cylinder with ATF. I'll give it a shake every day for the next few weeks to see if it will free up. Either way, it looks like a complete tear down is on tap in the future. Now I have to decide which project to put on hold for me to work on this one.

Happy Fourth of July.

Enjoy, Joe
