I think we got our 16 inch Packard Bell in 1950.  None of the  neighbors 
had a TV so all the dad's came to our house for the "Friday night  Fights."  I 
remember changing my bedtime routine and not putting on PJ's in  the living 
room.  :-).  Took a long time for my folks to convince me  that the people 
on TV couldn't see me.
(I was about 4 years  old)
