Charlie, that reminds me of a 1962 Corvair Monza I had back in the 60s. It got
24 mpg of gas and 20 miles per quart of oil when I traded it in on a brand new
1966 Mustang.

"47 Studebaker. Press the clutch to the floor, then stiff leg it a little with more pressure and Walla! It engaged the starter. The starter switch was similar in shape to a floor dimmer switch and was placed in the floor panel just higher than the clutch pedal. A metal piece extended from the top side of the clutch pedal and lined up to the starter button when clutch was depressed. Once accustomed to the set up, pushing the clutch to start, then letting it out to start moving in first gear was a very easy motion. Pretty handy. The bad news was that the Studebaker Champion I owned had 116,000 Miles on it and used more oil than it used gasoline.
