I love the way the US confirmed what they believed about Midway Island.
They had figured out that the Japs intended to invade a Pacific Island and
they believed it was Midway but did not know the Jap. code word for Midway.
So, the US forces sent a message in the clear from Midway back to a ship or
maybe back to the mainland saying the water de-salinazation plant was down.
Sure enough they heard the Japs say they would need to take water
de-salinazation equipment with them because the facilities on the island
were down.
