[AT] Brake Controller

The brakes on my trailer don't seem to be working anymore.  They worked just fine last fall, now nothing, although the brake lights still come on.  Is it possible that my brake controller just died?  It lights up like it's trying to work, but no amount of adjustment will effect the stopping power. I checked all the fuses and they were all good.

Has anyone ever had a brake controlled just quit working?  Or should my attention be focused on the trailer instead?
