[AT] Starter trouble

I'm with Ron. Stuck brushes are my first thought. I had that on my 8N. I
was able to pop the side of the starter with a hammer and free it up a
couple of times but it got worse. If the armature is out of round or the
bearings are worn and a brush holder sticks, it will loose contact.

Rebuilt one solved my problem and showed that it had been bad for a while...
the new one turns a lot faster. My guess is that one brush set had already
gone away and the other set finally gave up. It's running 12 volts into a 6
volt starter so I never noticed it until the last brush set jammed.

Hope this helps.
