Old cars, tractors and trucks were relatively simple to work on and repair 
prior to the advent of the computer. In the 80s one could figure out and 
still maybe diagnose problems without the new fancy equipment needed, in the 
90s it became impossible unless you were a trained technician with all the 
advanced equipment to tell whats wrong.
Now Caterpillar has come out with their new all redesigned D7E crawler. 
Diesel electric, no transmission or power (torque) converter and the engine 
is entirely beltless. There are 18 of them being used on different sites and 
reports state that they are up to 30% better fuel efficiency and do work 
equal to a D8.
