I've always wondered how winshield washer fluid would work. It might not be as heavy, but it is noncorosive.

Now that you pointed it out, I have found it in manuals from '41, '44 and
47. It does make it sound like an impurities situation. One pound into a
undred isn't very much lime.
By the way, driving a tractor with ice in the tires is not good. The tires
an be quickly damaged, especially at the point the edge of the ice meets
he air bubble.

This is also the first I've heard of it. The manual I have is the original
manual for the Farmall H and HV, really tattered, dirty, extremely yellow.
I can't read the number on the back cover because of the dirt/grease. On
page 54 it says:
CAUTION! Some calcium chloride flakes have an acid reaction. It is
advisable to add one pound of lime to each 100 pounds of calcium chloride
used.
