Ivan, it seems to me that those generator sets just don't put out their
advertised rating. A few weeks ago I rented a 15 KW diesel gen set to run 5
hp motor. It would run it fine after it got up to speed but the thing would
die down to just a few hundred rpm and blow black smoke for about 15 seconds
when we started the motor. It was a brand new gen set too. Have you got a
meter so you can measure the load when you crank the AC?
