Hi Andy,

We use Penberthy injectors on our 1909 Garrett Steam tractor, which as you say is a vertical mount. The horizontal types are about I just keep missing them..ha ha!

Good point about the locomotive message boards, for all my surfing on the web I never thought of that!

The Garrett tractor is tiny by American standards, but we love it...it's part of the 'family'. It's currently off the road, as we're re-bushing the valve gear. Which then turned into a cylinder re-bore, followed by new pistons and rings, followed by re-boring the crosshead guides. The list got bigger and bigger, I think we're almost up to a full stripdown as it's due it's 10 year inspection anyway.

Cheers,

Richard
PS: If you like I could email you a couple of pics (to your private email if that's ok?)

All is going well, with the boiler being re-united with the frame after a long while. We're starting to look at piping up for the vacuum brake system, which is a new area to me completely (but all part of the fun!)

> Richard, I am not familiar with horizontal injectors. I mostly see vertically mounted automatic injectors like those built by Penberthy, Chicago, or U.S. It sounds like you are dealing with a locomotive application which often uses a different style of feedwater injector. If no one here can help you you might check some groups that focus more on locomotive steam. As always, keep your eye on Ebay because you never know what will be offered for sale there.
