Ok this will be the last report on the newest A, sorry if I am boring anyone.

I installed a DLTX-71 that I bought on Ebay a while back as a rebuilt carb and wha-la tractor runs. It actually runs really well.

Now to get the clutch working.. It was a real battle. Not only were all the discs stuck, but the operating sleeve was stuck in the engaged position so the fork would not pull out of the collar in the operating sleeve to remove it from the tractor. After a litte 'Brute Finess' I managed to get it moving enough to slide the fork out of it's collar and remove the pulley.. Or mostly remove it. The rear wheel of course got in the way. I was not about to take on moving a rear wheel (yes they are all mounted backwards) so I worked with it in place. Once I got all the clutch toggles and dogs toggeling and doggeling I put in all back together and had a working clutch.. Time to go for a ride....

Now the throttle lever is still stuck, but the previous owner had disconnected the lingage to the governer, so I adjusted the remaining linkage at a decent idle.. I quickly tried to free up the throttle lever, but it is going to take some time, and I didn't want to break it.

The Char-lynn power steering leaves something to be desired.. turn the wheel a whole bunch, maybe the steer tires will move, maybe not..

All in all it runs really well, drives ok and does not make any horrible noises in the transmission or engine.. It seems to hold water. So I went digging through my spare A parts and have come up with a battery box, hood, gas tank, tricycle front end, platform, steering rod, and a muffler. It will need a few other parts. I would like to find a split front pedestal for it, as that is what is there now, but I have a solid tricycle so I may end up using it..

                       Chris
