[AT] Cylinder Packing

George,

Yes, based on your pictures your loader looks like mine... Except, your cylinders are a little bit different than those on my WD. I have the same cylinders as yours on my D17 and I also had a leak. Tightening the top seal did solve the problem on that type of cylinder.

The WD loader cylinders I have are not capped at the top. They only have a dust seal on the top. The seals must hold on the bottom of the cylinder or hydraulic fluid leaks around the seals and fills up the tube. Then, when I raise the loader oil squirts out the side of the cylinders. To remove the top cap you pull up on a wire embedded in the cap and spin the caps loose past the wire... The caps are not designed to hold pressure. (In my opinion a very crappy design.)

If I prop up the loader with a block when I am finished everything is fine, there is no load on the seal and fluid does not leak past the seals. But, when I use the tractor I often forget to prop the block in and then oil squirts all over... Just a pain, always filling up with oil...

Regards,

Will Powell
