[AT] Digitizing LPs (Vinyl) Was Re: The Wreck Of The Old 97/OT

One of my ongoing projects has been to digitize my vinyl
collection. I am about half done.... I ran cable from the "tape
out" jacks of my stereo to the "audio in" of my computer (with the
appropriate converter from RCA type jacks to miniature). I then use
Nero Wave Editor to record as I play the LP (or 45 or
cassette....). Then I save the entire recording as one big
file. The version of Wave Editor will save to WMA files, which
Windows Media Player will play. Then I cut the file into individual
songs as needed, saving them under the format "Artist-Album-Cut
number-Song title". I use Media Player to sort and then assign
album info back to the songs. Either Nero or Media player will then
burn CDs as necessary. Takes about a half hour per LP to cut, save
and assign a complete LP. This does not include the recording
time. I usually record while I am doing other stuff, then cut a
bunch when time allows and after cutting a bunch do the media player
assignments. Seems to work for me....

The version of Nero that I use is not able to remove pops and
hisses. I believe the newer versions are.
