I had a 57 VW conv. That had a gas heater in the trunk it was not very
dependable but when working kept you warm as toast. Ed

If I remember correctly, when the Corvair hit the street in 1960, it was
equipped with a gasoline heater due to no hot water with an air cooled rear
engine. One of the early GM recalls was a change of the jets to correct fuel
flow.
