Mike,

My wife, in an earlier life, had valuable thoroughbred horses foaling
out. There was an Anatolian sheep dog there who watched the place
quite well. One day it pinned an electric meter reader to the ground
who did not heed the dog's warning growls. According to other
stories, the dog was a most valued member of the family/farm and
watched over everything very well.

The latest story is that after she moved away from that farm, with the
dog, it ran away from the new house and made its way back to the old
one three times (some 5 miles). The last time, she asked the new
owners of the farm to keep the dog there because he was bonded to the
property, not the family members.
