Actually, the coyotes also do a good job on the pocket gophers.   The 
coyotes always hung around my backfield and there was never a gopher 
problem. Then the wolves moved in. Coyotes never hang around where wolves 
are. Then I had problems with gophers in my back field, Luckily, the wolves 
have moved out and i have heard coyotes howling again, so maybe the gophers 
will disappear again. I used to raise sheep and I never had a problem with 
coyotes either.
